About Christina

I’m a pre-med student at Duke University with a strong academic background in mathematics, specializing in Algebra and Pre-Calculus. Having excelled at the top of my math classes, I bring both deep subject knowledge and a clear, structured approach to teaching. What sets my tutoring apart is personalization. Every student learns differently, and I adapt each session to match your style—whether you learn best visually, through discussion, or by solving problems hands-on. My goal isn’t just to help you “get through” the material, but to truly master it. I’m known for being patient, approachable, and supportive. Math can feel overwhelming, but I create a space where you can ask questions freely and build confidence step by step. I break down complex concepts into simple, digestible ideas and use real-world examples to make everything click. My students consistently see strong improvements in both understanding and grades. I take pride in helping them overcome challenges and reach their academic goals. In addition to math tutoring, I also offer support with college preparation and essay editing, drawing from my experience as a Duke student. About the lesson

- Uses many example problems and promotes teaching math concepts in a way that is understood by student (there are a variety of ways to get to the same answer!)

- Typically, students may begin with any problems they have difficulty and from either their class assignments or previous tests and we will take time to dig into the problem and determine what may have went wrong and how we can avoid making the same mistakes

- Offers weekly **suggested homework in order to improve on any subject of difficulty

- Open to teaching math for grades 5-10 (Pre-Algebra, Algebra1, Algebra 2, Pre-calculus)

Today's lesson with Jayda went wonderfully! We went over some exponential and radical properties from last week and corrected a few problems from the homework I gave her. She was able to make quick changes and apply them to today's lesson with very little difficulty. She is making significant progress so far with righting expressions for exponential growth and was able to submit her past assignment on that. We went through the problem just 2 times and she was able to confidently tell me how to go about getting the equation without much assistance. Our plan for next week is to go through the rest of her school homework assignments and make sure that she has the concepts down pat (which she is already beginning to do on her own). I am very happy with her progress and excited to get moving next week on Wednesday!
