About Yasmine

I am currently a first-year BBA student studying at the Schulich School of Business at York University and am aspiring to acquire my CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation at the end of my undergraduate years and complete my master's in accounting.

During my high school years, I achieved a 93 and 94 in Grade 11 and 12 accounting respectively and have built a strong foundation in all things fundamentals, analysis and entries! So, you are in the best of hands.

About the lesson

Welcome! If you’re a high school student (grades 9-12) and are looking to strengthen your accounting knowledge/ fundamentals and achieve your academic goals, you’ve come to the right place!

My tutoring approach is very student/results-based and is based on your original concerns and issues the student is having. Being a first year BBA student myself, I am able to break down all the concepts you’re struggling with into clear analogies, steps, and problems to get you to your desired marks. Having earned a 94+ average in these courses, I know what it takes to succeed beyond memorization and late-night cramming, while actually enjoying the process.

A typical lesson plan with me would look like:
1. Identifying your weak points and why you’ve decided to start tutoring
2. Targeted re-learning and understanding
1. I go over the difficult concepts/material again and break it down into steps and analogies to attain a better understanding
3. Assisted practice questions
1. We complete practice questions together and go over what it would look like to solve specific questions, how to journal specific entries, and how to analyze its changes to the corresponding financial statements
2. Once the process(es) are understood by the student, we move on to individual practice.
4. Individual practice questions
1. The student completes at least 2 advanced questions on their own to ensure they know the concepts well.
5. Homework
1. I tend to assign 5-6 practice questions similar to the concepts covered in the tutoring session.
2. I offer emergency last-minute sessions, but must be informed 2 hours before booking and must be before 10:30pm.

My rate: I charge $20/hour and $22/hour for emergency sessions.
