About Weihong
I help high school and first-year university students understand math clearly and improve their test performance, especially in algebra, functions, graphs, and introductory calculus.
I focus on breaking down complex concepts into simple, clear steps so students can solve problems independently and build confidence. I often work with students who feel stuck or behind, helping them quickly get back on track.
I am a mathematics student at the University of Saskatchewan, and I bring a clear, structured approach to explaining concepts in a way that students can actually understand.
In our sessions, we concentrate on the exact topics they need for school — assignments, tests, and exams — with clear explanations and targeted practice.
My goal is to make math truly make sense, not just something to memorize.

In my lessons, I aim to create a calm, low-pressure environment where students can think clearly and learn at their own pace.
We focus on understanding rather than memorizing. I break concepts down step by step and guide students through problems until they feel comfortable solving them on their own.
I keep sessions relaxed and supportive so students don’t feel stressed or overwhelmed. When students are comfortable, they learn faster and gain confidence more naturally.
The goal is not just to improve grades, but to help students feel more at ease with math and develop a clearer way of thinking.

Great cooking skill! Combined knowledge and creativity! We always enjoy and finish all the food!
I've known Weihong for seven years since high school, and he's genuinely one of the most knowledgeable people I know when it comes to Chinese language and culture.
What makes Weihong special is his depth of knowledge and his infectious energy. Not only is he fluent, but he goes further, studying classical Chinese, philosophy, and cultural history. He introduced me to Liu Cixin's Three Body Problem and would point out things like how the characters' Chinese names carry symbolic meaning - I still remember 心 (heart) because of how he explained Cheng Xin's name. These little connections he makes are what make things actually stick in your memory. We'd stay up late discussing Chinese literature and philosophy, his passion and curiosity fueling the discussion.
His teaching style is all about understanding the "why" behind things. Even when we're cooking traditional recipes together, he'll explain the chemistry and theory - it goes over my head, but that's exactly his teaching style: he finds creative ways to explain complex things until they click. I've seen him tutoring others in math, and he has this gift for making sure people truly grasp concepts, not just memorize them - the same approach he takes when explaining Chinese culture to me.
As a friend, he's always the guy trying to get you out and about; he got me out of my shell during lockdown and got me to attend a Chinese youth group where, despite not knowing the language, I made friends and had lots of laughs. Even though I was a complete beginner, he found ways to help me participate and understand what was happening. Whatever setbacks come his way, he just keeps going with relentless optimism.
His knowledge and passion are what inspired me to start learning Chinese myself. He's patient, thoughtful, and makes complex cultural concepts accessible.
I recommend Weihong without hesitation. His expertise and energy will probably inspire you to dive deeper into Chinese than you ever expected.Super nice and patient boy who knows a lot about math. His passion towards this subject makes him a great candidate to teach and help students understand all the abstract concepts in mathematics.
