I am currently a high school sophomore and have 6 years of playing experience. I have been first chair in the highest bands throughout middle school and high school up to this point. I have also been firsts chair twice consecutively at the All Northern California High school Honor Band.

I cater to students needs and learning styles. I have several recommended books and techniques for overcoming the difficult learning curve that comes with oboe. I also can teach english horn alongside oboe. Through these methods students can achieve core skills on the oboe alongside developed musicality.
For Beginners (times vary per student's needs, recommended 30 minute sessions):
Embouchure and technical work, "mouth muscle" chop building
Tonguing practice with sightreading rhythms
Scales and Fingering Practice
Etude or Solo Practice (once basics have been established)
For Intermediate (recommended 30-60 minute sessions depending on individual needs):
Scale/arpeggio technique warmup
Singer Method Book work (includes short etudes and sightreading as well as sonatas)
Long Term Solo Project (preferably from Concert and Contest book, focus on phrasing and dynamic contrasts)
Introduction to Vibrato
Depending on the student's starting musical level, we can start from zero musical experience including learning how to read music and rhythms. Once basics in the instrument and musicality are established, we can build upon individuality and stylistic playing as well as increased sightreading skills. With consistent time and practice students will be sufficient in reading and playing music with ease and mature musicality.
