Every student has the ability to learn and grow. The process of learning and the resulting growth looks different for every student. It is incredibly important for every student to have clearly defined goals when approaching their learning. Ultimately, I think every student's goal should be to create a life for themselves that gives them purpose and makes them happy. Education is the pathway to reaching this goal. If a student feels passionate about getting a job helping animals, then the student's question should be "How can my education create a pathway to a career in helping animals?". This same idea can be applied to any passion a student has. My job is to help students in a small part of their journey to reaching their ultimate goals. Successfully completing classes and graduating from high school is usually an important part of this. In my teaching, my goal is to help students find a way that works for them to learn their course material. My hope is that these students will also recognize how learning this material is giving them the opportunity to practice skills that can be applied to what they are passionate about.
I graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in 2018 with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Theatre Minor (Humanities and Arts). I have taught high school Physical Science for 2 years. I love it! I spent last summer (2019) tutoring high school students in preparation for SATs and ACTs (as well as some other lesser known college entrance exams) with the Huntington Learning Center. I also tutored younger students in math, reading, and writing skills. To me, science is a combination of all subject areas. In order to be successful in science fields you must have critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills. Building your knowledge in mathematics and literacy will help you practice these skills!

Katie is a friend of mine who I have asked for help with research and writing assignments that I have struggled with in high school and college. I get really stressed out about writing essays, but Katie has helped me create outlines and gave me tips for writing a great paper. She has also helped me proofread before turning a paper in! Katie is an awesome person to get help from with anything research related.
Katie and I have been friends since elementary school. She is a great teacher. She has helped me with my college level courses in the past. She helped me break down a problem I had and explained concepts by using easy to understand examples. She also uses diagrams and drawings to give visual representations as to what she is explaining. I would recommend Katie to Superprof members because she is very reliable, knowledgeable, and she will take her time teaching others until they are fully comfortable with a topic.
