About Kelly

As a high school student, I personally understand how hard it is to fully digest everything taught in classrooms. With 20-something other classmates, it becomes difficult to ask questions and get feedback, and sometimes, students that learn differently compared to their peers, feel abandoned in their learning experiences.

At larger tutor organizations, students can also feel the same way. The same learning packages are handed to every student, and oftentimes, these lessons are not very engaging. There's also not much individual help, and almost no customization with the learning experience.

However, my greatest priority is to solidify understanding, all while acting as a guide for their self-growth, ensuring that they don't feel alone throughout their learning journey. With my keen observational skills, and strong ability to empathize and read emotions, I'm able to help my students with their learning in a way that best suits THEM! Since every person is one-of-a-kind, not one of my students has ever been taught the same way.

My way of teaching is tried and true, and can't be found anywhere else! Included below is all of my work experience as a tutor so far:

- 3 months with Homework Hub
- 2 month with YAPA Kids
- 3 months with Peer Tutoring at my high school
- 1 1/2 years of part-time, freelance tutoring

*These experiences are all volunteer roles.*

Every person is unique, so the way they learn new things is also unique to them! With every student, each with their own interests, dislikes, and ways of learning, a new lesson plan is created, just for them!

Whether the student is a visual learner that needs help with spelling and geometry or is a kinesthetic AND an auditory learner seeking enrichment in science, a set of learning material will be made and tailored uniquely for their personal use, all through the guidance of a passionate and patient educator!

There are two types of teaching available: Enrichment and Homework Help.

Enrichment Teaching:
Lessons revolve around newer or more advanced subjects. For example, a student in grade 3 might receive Enrichment Teaching on a 4th or 5th-grade math subject. Learning material includes introduction walk-throughs using videos, readings, and tutor-guided topics, as well as practice questions, small tasks and engaging activities (Kahoot, Blookit, etc.) to solidify learning.

Homework Help:
Exactly how it sounds, students will receive one-on-one feedback on assignments and will have help with school work/homework. Unlike in a school setting, these lessons will have more focus on individual improvement, where the student is encouraged and guided along the way. There may also be a rewards system set in place, customized depending on the student's interests, age, and parent input.

*Lessons take place at either a local gathering place (e.g. public library) or through online meetings (e.g. Google Meet, Zoom).*
