High school student teaching Pre-Algebra lessons Online for Middle School students during the summer.

Course setup

This course will be divided into 3 levels (based on diagnostic test results).

1. Honors:

In the Honors level class, students will cover the following topics:

- Order of Operations
-Exponents
- Expressions
-Algebraic Equations
-Factoring
- Slope
- Inequalities
- Absolute Values
- Type of lines (Parallel lines and Perpendicular Lines)

2. Accelerated:

At this level, students will move at a faster pace, covering more topics. In this course, students will learn:

- Order of Operations
- Expressions
-Algebraic Equations
-Factoring
-Square Roots and Powers
- Slope
- Inequalities
- Absolute Values
- Type of lines (Parallel lines and Perpendicular Lines)
- Angles (Supplementary, complementary, Right)
- Probability
- Properties of basic shapes (Circle, Square, Rectangles, etc)
- Area and Perimeter of prisms and 2-D shapes.
- Volume
-Introduction to Binomials.

3. Enriched:

Those in the Enriched level will move faster than those in Accelerated and this course, students will cover some topics in High School level classes. Students in this course will cover the following topics:

- Order of Operations
- Expressions
-Algebraic Equations
-Square Roots and Powers
- Slope
- Inequalities
- Type of lines (Parallel lines and Perpendicular Lines)
- Angles (Supplementary, complementary, Right)
- Probability
- Properties of basic shapes (Circle, Square, Rectangles, etc)
-TRIANGLES!
- Area and Perimeter of prisms and 2-D shapes.
- Volume
- Geometric Probability
- Trigonometry
- Functions
- Introduction to reasoning and proofs! (Deductive reasoning and two-column proofs)

Note: Throughout the course, if I notice that a student is excelling the topics that are presented, the student will have an opportunity to move up to a higher level class (enriched and accelerated). It should be noted that those who are enriched cannot move up a level. This also applies to those who want to move down a level as well.
