About Ian
Hello! I am an enthusiastic and competitive high school player. I would be delighted to help others learn and become the best that they can be. Currently, I play tennis for my high school varsity tennis team and have been an integral part of my junior varsity team which secured a league championship victory. In addition to my experiences playing school tennis, I was one half of a winning team that captured the Junior Team Tennis Southern California Sectional Championship.
Over the years, I have picked up fundamental skills and gained experience in terms of match strategy and training techniques necessary to excel. Whether a student is a beginner or intermediate player, I have much insight and knowledge in how to develop one's game and build confidence as a player.
As a coach, I am patient, encouraging, and dedicated to developing each of my students' talents in accordance with their personal goals. Whether they have never held a racquet before or are simply looking to refine their school tennis skills, I would love to work with them!

I try to take a slow approach regarding tennis as I understand that it can be an extremely difficult sport to pick up. Depending on their level, I will teach them techniques/strategies while also hitting with them at the same time. I also try to create a positive environment where students are able to enjoy the sport. I will break down complex skills into small and simple steps as well. A typical lesson would start with a light warm-up and footwork exercises. Then, we would focus on technique such as forehands, backhands, volleys, and serves through drills and personal feedback. Lastly, the lesson would end with a fun game or point play. Being a present-day high school tennis player, I am well aware of the difficulties a beginner might encounter since I was in that position quite recently. In my teaching efforts, I try to make the lesson both simple and interesting. Besides learning the technical skills, I would like my pupils to feel comfortable playing tennis and enjoy the game. The lessons offered are tailored for students at the elementary, middle, and novice/intermediate high school level in order to help them learn the basics of tennis. No matter whether it is your first lesson or if you have prior experience but want to take it to the next level, lessons will be customized according to your requirements.

Ian is one of my classmates in high school, and he is one of the smartest people that I know. He is always extremely responsible and manages time efficiently. Whenever, I ask him for help with assignments or homework, instead of just giving me the answers, he tries to teach me by providing step-by-step instructions. I feel like I have learned so much from him!
