I will usually will teach with a presentation about a concept, periodically allowing time for asking questions. After that a hands on activity will be included, to improve understanding of the topic.
I believe in hands-on learning. It keeps both the tutor and the student more focused, and it creates more interest and is more enjoyable when taught that way. It also allows the student to be able to better identify pitfalls in a real world, not theoretical lesson.
A typical lesson plan might include:
- Review/refresher at beginning
- Main lesson content
- Questions
- Common issues when implementing taught content
- Hands on activity.
My real world experience sets me apart as a tutor. Many people do not have the real world experience. Although points taught theoretically is fine, I believe that having this real world experience is better as the teacher can teach common errors and help debug easier.
The lessons are for beginners looking to learn development and programming, in a beginner friendly language, with the lessons eventually moving on to either competitive programming or full stack development. Python will be mainly taught but core programming concepts will be taught, such as time complexity. Eventually, the class will incorporate aspects such as html, css, and javascript, in the 'full stack' developing process, and an introduction to hosting your own applications.
