About Daniel
I have been teaching American History for over twenty years. I have taught over 3,000 students in my time. Over forty of my former students are now engaged in actively teaching history courses now, including one of my current staff. Others are actively engaged in history-related fields. A number of my students have received scholarships including the Levine Scholarship at UNCC. They attend UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke, Georgetown, UNCC, to name a few. I have the single largest number of students taking an AP US History in the county (one teacher) in my program Last year's APUSH program had eighty children enrolled, with another thirty trying to get in. My Civil war course consistently averages around thirty students for each class.

I am very much a “hands on” teacher, and currently teach AP US History, US History I, and Civil War. I have often felt that my passion for sharing my love of history with my students is perhaps without parallel. One of my students once told me that I was the most historically minded and active teacher he had ever met. I guess that is because as a teacher I literally live what I do; I live history. My vitae describes my personal involvement in living history reenacting, but it goes beyond that. To me, to truly teach as fundamentally and as passionately as I do I must immerse myself in all levels of history studies. I must have command of my content, for in this way, it allows me to show the interconnectedness of history, and guide my students in how to use our nation’s past to plot a sound course for the future. Making the individual characters of our past come alive in my classroom also helps the students in developing good decision making skills applicable to their own lives. I teach with the idea that I am preparing our future leaders, and that they deserve to have a teacher who has done his utmost best to prepare to give them the very best education, and help prepare them for life as well.
I hold both a bachelor's and a master's degree in secondary education and history from S.U.N.Y. Brockport State in New York. I am a Civil War & Revolutionary War reenactor.
