About Oliver
Playing guitar is by far the funnest thing you can do. It’s often taught, though, in a way where it’s easy to fall out of love with.
My goal as a teacher is to harness the thing that made you want to pick up the guitar in the first place and never lose it.
I do this by teaching in an enthusiastic and relatable way and prioritising playing over learning theory for theory's sake.
I’ve come to see learning guitar in a similar way to learning a language. The most effective way to learn a language is to speak it. Grammar and theory can then be used to enhance and illuminate at a point where you’ve already gotten off the ground.
Guitar playing is no different - we'll start by learning real songs and then introduce theory at junctures where it doesn’t seem academic and theoretical, but interesting and useful!
Bio
I studied History at King's College London and then worked at a music management company in London. I then moved to the energy industry, working in a team that helped vulnerable customers. After this, I moved to Milan working as a freelance content writer.

I teach beginner and intermediate players and I emphasise playing over theory. A priority of mine is for lessons to feel fun, relaxed and safe.
The genres I specialise in are indie and alternative rock but I love everything from metal to folk.
Lesson structure: I will ask you what music you like and what your ambitions are and I will guide you to your goals by learning songs that you love. Over the course of the songs you learn, you will master key technical skills without it feeling dull and boring.
Whether you want to write your own songs, shred along to your favourite solos or just brush up on the basics - I've got you!
