About Asha

Hello! I am a Math tutor with an MSc and over 4 years of experience helping more than 200 students unlock their potential in Mathematics. I work with learners across a wide range of levels and abilities — from students who are just beginning to struggle at GCSE level, all the way through to undergraduates tackling advanced Calculus, Linear Algebra, Real Analysis, and Statistics modules.

The topics I cover span the full Mathematics curriculum: Algebra in all its forms, Coordinate Geometry, Trigonometry including advanced identities, Differential and Integral Calculus, Sequences and Series, Vectors and Matrices, Complex Numbers, Statistics and Probability, Mechanics, Numerical Methods, and university Pure Mathematics. I am experienced with all major exam boards including AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Cambridge International, and IB, and I always align every lesson precisely to the student's specific syllabus and assessment requirements.

What I am most proud of is not just the grade improvements my students achieve — though those are consistently strong — but the genuine transformation in how students relate to Mathematics. Many students arrive believing that Math is simply beyond them, that it is a subject for other people. My job is to show them, through one clear explanation at a time, that it is not. Watching that belief shift, and seeing a student go from dreading Math to approaching it with real confidence and even enjoyment, is the most rewarding part of everything I do as a tutor.

My philosophy when teaching Maths is simple: every student can succeed with the right explanation and enough purposeful practice. Most students who struggle with Maths are not lacking in ability — they are lacking in confidence and clarity, and that is exactly what I provide in every session. I begin every new student relationship with a thorough diagnostic to identify specific gaps and misconceptions, and I then build a fully personalised plan that addresses those gaps systematically and efficiently, moving from foundational concepts to more complex applications in a clear, logical progression.

I teach Maths using a consistent three-stage approach for every topic: first I explain the underlying concept clearly and intuitively, often using multiple different approaches and analogies until the idea genuinely clicks; then I work through carefully chosen worked examples while narrating my thinking process explicitly so students can see exactly how I approach a problem; and finally I set targeted practice problems for the student to work through independently while I observe, guide, and provide specific feedback. This active, three-stage cycle builds genuine understanding rather than passive familiarity, and the results are consistently strong.

Exam technique receives major focus in every session. I teach students how to present their working clearly, how to structure multi-step solutions, how to approach unfamiliar question types strategically without panicking, and how to check answers efficiently under time pressure. I use past papers and mark schemes extensively, ensuring students understand precisely what examiners are looking for and exactly how to deliver it. By the end of our sessions together, students do not just know more Maths — they know how to perform under exam conditions, and that makes all the difference.
