About Amy
I am passionate about providing support for young people who are often forgotten or overlooked in traditional educational environments. Neurodiverse pupils, and those suffering from anxiety, deserve to have teachers who care about them and who aim to meet their individual needs on a lesson-by-lesson basis.
I have a BSc in Neuroscience, a PGCE in Secondary Science (Biology), and an MA in Special and Inclusive Education from UCL. For the past 11 years I have taught GCSE Science to pupils with emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), autism, and ADHD at a small-group provision.

I aim to make learning fun for even the most disengaged young people. I first focus on relationship building, finding out the interests of each young person, then find a way to relate their interests to science. Everyone can enjoy learning!
I teach 30-60min lessons, depending on the individual's concentration span.
11-14 years: build strong foundations in scientific methods and concepts in line with the key stage 3 national curriculum. I provide bespoke support for pupils; those who need additional support and those who require stretch/challenge.
14-16 years: tasks tailored to support with any/all exam board specifications. Clear explanations of concepts, with a range of real-life examples, coupled with past paper questions to consolidate learning. My pupils have met (or exceeded!) their target grades after using this method.
Parental feedback/discussion is a key part of the process. I welcome honest communication from parents and pupils alike!
