About Anna

I was studying to be an interpreter, but, by accident rather than by design, I became a language teacher and fell in love with this job.
With over 12 years of teaching English, Russian and Ukrainian under my belt, I’ve taught all levels to a wide range of ages of 6 to 65. For teaching Russian and Ukrainian I developed my own conversation-centred courses.
As for my language competence, I was raised bilingual in Ukrainian and Russian. As a teenager, I spent a year in the US studying in an AMerican school and living in an American family on the FLEX program. I spent about 2 months exploring the UK on a self-organised tour. My TOEFL is 114 out of 120. I have just come back from a year in Qatar, where I taught English in a private school. In short, you will have no problem understanding my English.
I am quite well-travelled (have visited over 70 cities around the world) and interested in a variety of topics: from books to law, from popular culture to business. So, it will be difficult to run out of discussion topics at my lessons.

About the lesson

As unorthodox as it may sound, I am not keen on talking in my lessons. I prefer to give the floor to my students so that they practise as much as possible keeping my grammar explanations to the minimum. I try to bring the lesson as close to life as possible. In addition to the loads of practice, the activities are fun and challenging. Many of the activities are created by me to maximize the speaking output. Even though my main focus as a teacher is developing conversational skills, other skills won't be ignored either. Moreover, I systematically work on eradicating my students’ frequent mistakes.

Details

If I'm required to travel to the student's location, an extra fee will be charged depending on the time it takes to travel.
If the lesson is cancelled on the day before the arranged lesson, there's no problem whatsoever. I try to be flexible with on-the-day lesson cancellations as things happen.
Group lesson prices are to be discussed individually.
