About Ilya

History is a subject that has been a part of my life since middle school. I always loved the depth of the subject and was especially fascinated by the unsolved mysteries that are waiting to be uncovered. These were one of the main reasons, why I decided to receive a historical education and strived to be a professional researcher and, later, a teacher and professor.
During my Bachelor studies I understood that in addition to research I am thrilled to deliver my findings to people who are not part of the scientific community and thus was the beginning of my career as a teacher. I taught history to high school students at a University Gymnasium in Moscow and at the same time participated in archival research at Lomonosov Library, specifically I worked with epistolary heritage of Simon Bolivar and of Russian Embassy in London during the reign of Peter the Great.
During my studies at Humboldt University, I taught history at Queen Mary University of London and due to the recommendation of my colleagues at the faculty, I received an opportunity to work at London and Paris Gymnasium N1 schools, where, in addition to history, I taught geography and political philosophy of the age of Enlightenment.
My love for historical sciences is a part of my life constantly and it is a great pleasure for me to teach students fascinating and engaging lessons.

About the lesson

I did my B.A. in history at Lomonosov Moscow State University and I received my M.A. in history at Humoldt Universitaet zu Berlin. Taught history for 5 years to High school and University aged students, Gymnasium N1 in London and Paris, and Humboldt Universitaet zu Berlin and Queen Mary University of London respectively.

My lessons are 60 minutes (1 hour) long, but longer or shorter versions could be arranged.

As for my methodology, I provide students not only with historical facts and knowledge in current historiography but also teach them skills that are usefull outside of historical sciences:

-What is the distinction between fact and an opinion;
-How to discern what is a reason or a cause;
-How to create a logical chain of thought (reason-cause-consiquences);
-Historical geography;
-Cultural education;
-Organisation of written language in a formal essay;
-Presentation and debate skills (how to build an argument and how to respond to them)
