About Ticiana

I am studying History and Politics at the University of Oxford, Lincoln College, and I absolutely love my degree. What I most love is when the two sides of my degree cross over and I can use my knowledge from both sides for political history modules. Having taken 11+, GCSEs, AS levels, A levels, university entrance exams, and university exams, I am very used to preparing for them and have come across lots of different revision methods and techniques, seeing which ones work best for me or my friends. I would be very keen to pass these onto any students who aren't sure how best to prepare for any exams. At University, I captain the 2nd women's lacrosse team, which has been the best experience of my time here. I have also been very involved in student journalism, including being an editor of the freshers' magazine; am Gender Rep at my college; and am taking part in an international development consultancy project. I am used to having to balance my degree work alongside these commitments and, in my capacity as captain, to helping my teammates to be able to do the same.

About the lesson

The most important thing for me would be to help my students to become confident in answering difficult questions in a way that is tailored to exam mark schemes, which I believe can best be done by going through as many of these as possible with students.Because the aim is to ensure that students can do this by themselves, I seek to guide and to prompt them to think and reach the answers themselves, rather than just provide them with solutions. The structure of my lessons of course varies by subject, but in all cases will involve going through whatever the tutees find difficult. This could be around 1-3 essay questions in a subject like history or politics at A level, or a series of maths questions. Ultimately, this is so that when the tutee reaches the exam, they feel confident dealing by themselves with anything that might be thrown at them, which in my experience is best done by going through exam-like questions.

GCSE lessons online are 25£ per hour, but for A level or Oxbridge application preparation they are £35. This is because you need to be significantly more qualified and well-prepared to tutor A level or Oxbridge than GCSE.
