About Jamie
As an A* student, I understand both the dedication it takes to achieve academic success and the challenges that come with finding the best way to learn. I also know what it’s like to be a kid juggling school and other commitments. My approach to tutoring is built on empathy and personalisation. I worked hard to discover the methods that worked for me, but I recognise that no two people learn the same way. Every student is unique, and I aim to uncover the strategies that work best for each individual. I create lessons that are engaging and interactive, adapting my teaching style to the student’s needs. For politics and history, I focus on making connections between the material and real-world events, which helps students understand and retain complex ideas. In Spanish, I emphasise conversational fluency, cultural context, and practical language skills to build confidence and proficiency. I also teach practical study techniques, from effective revision strategies to essay-writing skills, so my students can feel more prepared and less overwhelmed.

My teaching methodology is tailored to each student’s unique learning style, ensuring they remain engaged and motivated. Typically I like keeping my lessons to between 1-2 hours to ensure the concentration of my students but I decide what is suitable on an individual basis and depending on the requirements of the client. For politics, history, and Spanish, I use a mix of interactive and practical techniques, including: Interactive Discussions: Encouraging critical thinking and debate, particularly for politics and history, to deepen understanding and develop analytical skills. Contextual Learning: Relating historical events and political concepts to current issues to make them relevant and engaging. Immersive Spanish Practice: Focusing on conversational fluency, vocabulary building, and grammar, incorporating cultural elements like Spanish media, music, and literature. Customised Feedback: Regular assessments with constructive feedback to help students track progress and address specific challenges.
