About Rebekah

About Me Hi there! I'm a certified educator with over 15 years of experience teaching students from kindergarten through high school. I hold certifications in General Education (EC–4), ELA and Reading (4–8), and Special Education (EC–12). I'm currently pursuing a second Master’s degree in Education with a focus on History, and I also have a Reading Specialist background — so literacy and social studies are my specialties! I've worked with a wide range of learners, including students with ADHD, learning disabilities, and English language learners. I use interactive tools like Boom Cards, escape rooms, and virtual field trips to bring lessons to life. I also love creating cross-curricular experiences that blend reading, science, and social studies — it’s all about helping students make real-world connections. When I’m not teaching, I’m learning! I'm studying for my SAT/ACT certification and always looking for ways to support students academically and emotionally. Whether it's reading comprehension, essay writing, or preparing for U.S. History exams, I’m here to help students grow with confidence and curiosity.

About My Lessons

My U.S. History lessons are interactive, student-centered, and designed to make learning about the past both engaging and meaningful. Whether we’re exploring the causes of the American Revolution, analyzing primary sources from the Civil Rights Movement, or preparing for AP exams, I tailor each lesson to fit the student's learning style, pace, and goals.

I incorporate visuals, discussion prompts, timelines, and even digital tools like virtual field trips to bring history to life. My lessons also support skill-building in reading comprehension, critical thinking, and essay writing — perfect for students who need help connecting the dots or preparing for standardized tests.

I especially enjoy working with students who have special education needs, ADHD, or are new to learning U.S. History. Everyone deserves to feel confident and curious about history!

Lesson Breakdown

Each U.S. History lesson follows a flexible structure to keep students engaged while supporting their academic goals:

Warm-Up (5–10 minutes):
We start with a fun review game, a thought-provoking question, or a short primary source to spark curiosity and activate prior knowledge.

Core Lesson (20–25 minutes):
This includes a mix of storytelling, visuals (timelines, maps, documents), guided reading, and direct instruction. I often use interactive tools like Boom Cards or Nearpod to make learning more hands-on.

Skills Focus (10–15 minutes):
We work on reading comprehension, note-taking, document analysis (DBQs), and writing practice depending on the student’s needs — especially useful for middle and high schoolers and those preparing for state tests or the APUSH exam.

Wrap-Up (5 minutes):
We finish with a quick summary, exit question, or a mini quiz to reinforce learning. I also preview the next topic so students know what to expect and feel prepared.

️ After Lesson Support:
Students receive optional review materials, helpful links, or extension activities — great for extra practice or family discussion.
