About Katie
I'm a student teacher, and I'm training to teach history in Secondary School. I graduated from the University of Leeds in 2025, with a Bachelor's degree in History and Philosophy. Throughout my own education, I received an A* in History at A-level, and a 9 at GCSE. I have tutored History and English to friends and family. I'm really passionate about History - my favourite period to study is 20th-century European history, I think the complex politics of modern history are fascinating, but I am also very knowledgeable about Early Modern history, as my degree focused on much of this time. I hope to continue inspiring young people to care about history just as much as I do.

I'm currently training to teach history to students aged 11-18. My lessons would typically be an hour long, but I am totally flexible. I believe in a holistic approach to history education, so we would focus intrinsically on the parts of history a student may need more help with. Overall, we would look both at the factual side of history - key historical events and periods as required, and focus on building important historical thinking skills, such as really getting to grips with source analysis, judging interpretations, understanding causation, and evaluating change and continuity over time. Through my training, I've developed skills in exam prep and marking, so I know my way around different history papers, and know best how to support students through navigating history exams.
