About QUINTUS
Hello, My name is Quintus, but you can call me Quin. I am an alumnus of the University of Exeter, and I graduated in 2025 with a 2:1 in History.
I have a genuine love for History across all periods—from ancient Greece to the modern history of the Middle East, I find it all fascinating. What I enjoy most is how each period connects, showing how people, ideas, and events have shaped the world we live in today. It’s something I’m always keen to share, and I aim to bring that enthusiasm into every lesson.
Alongside this, I also have the skills and understanding to support other humanities subjects such as Classics/Ancient History and Religious Studies. These subjects share many of the same core skills—analysis, interpretation, and structured writing—and I enjoy helping students apply those skills across different areas with confidence.
My approach to teaching is relaxed and supportive. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I’m always happy to adapt sessions to suit what works best for you—whether that’s focusing on a specific topic, improving essay writing, or building confidence in the subject as a whole. I want lessons to feel comfortable and constructive, not stressful.
At the same time, I do expect students to come to sessions with an open mind and a willingness to learn and get involved. If you’re prepared to engage and give things a go, we can make real progress—and have a bit of fun with History along the way.

My lessons are completely tailored around you—what you need help with, how you like to learn, and what will actually help you improve. Whether that’s working through tricky topics, building confidence with essays, preparing for exams, or getting support with university applications and personal statements, everything is shaped to suit you. History isn’t everyone’s favourite subject (yet), but it’s definitely more than just memorising dates and names, I promise!
There’s so much to it: power struggles, big personalities, strange decisions, moments of brilliance, and plenty of chaos along the way. My aim is to make it all feel more interesting and easier to get your head around, rather than something you just have to “get through” for an exam.
Alongside that, we’ll focus on the skills that really make the difference in your grades; analysis, essay writing, and critical thinking, skills that when mastered will push your grades from 5/C to 7/8 and A/A*. I’ll help you understand not just how to write a strong answer, but why you’re doing it that way. Why do we compare events? Why does “evaluation” matter so much? Once those things click, History becomes a lot more manageable (and your marks will improve too).
I also offer support with university applications, including personal statements—whether that’s helping you get started, refining your ideas, or making sure your writing stands out while still sounding like you. Having been through the process myself, I can help you present your interests and strengths clearly and confidently.
In addition to History, I’m happy to help with other humanities subjects up to GCSE level, including essay writing, analysis, and revision skills that apply across subjects.
When it comes to History, I’m happy teaching any period or topic, and lessons can be as structured or as flexible as you like. We can go over things you’re struggling with, practise exam questions, or even explore new areas to build confidence. The goal is to create a relaxed, supportive space where you feel comfortable asking questions and actually engaging with the subject.
Ultimately, I want to help make History feel more accessible, more engaging, and maybe even enjoyable—while giving you the tools and confidence to do well in your exams and beyond.
