About Joshua
I am a current scholarship recipient and PhD candidate in the School of History at the ANU in Canberra. I completed my Undergraduate degree at La Trobe University in 2017; a double major in English/History as well as a Diploma of Languages (Spanish).
In 2018 I received 1st Class Honours for an interdisciplinary honours thesis that combined my studies in History and English, as well as receiving two awards and the Vice Chancellors Commendation. Prior to studying as a mature aged student I have worked as an Outdoor Educator, Teacher's Aide, Youth and Disability Support Worker and as a Primary and Secondary School Tutor both in Melbourne and Canberra.

I base my classes around my student's wants and needs, however, I have found that I often employ the Socratic Method. I enjoy engaging in conversation with my students to encourage learning. This stimulates critical thinking and builds confidence. Through casual conversations students then find themselves expressing complex and nuanced thoughts or opinions they might not have otherwise known they had.
Each session will of course be tailored to the current needs and study levels of my student but I can guarantee that many fun, engaging and interesting conversations will be had, vocabularies expanded and grammar dissected.
