About Benjamin
Teaching and helping others have always been a passion of mine. From a young age, I found immense satisfaction in assisting my peers with their schoolwork, explaining complex concepts, and watching their understanding grow. This desire to teach others has remained a driving force in my life. As I progressed through my own education, I have become aware of the disparities in educational opportunities that many students face. As someone who came from a low-income household at the time and went to a grammar school – I know how important education is to students everywhere. This realisation ignited a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those who might need extra support to excel academically. I have always thought of becoming a teacher in either secondary, further, or higher education, and I am highly motivated by the idea that, as a tutor, I can help students unlock their full potential. The rewarding aspect of tutoring when a student understands a difficult concept, and this is the main driving factor in becoming a tutor. I am an effective communicator, able to convey complex ideas in a clear and understandable manner. I can distil and dissect complex ideas into clear and simple points that are accessible for different students. I am committed putting in the time and effort to ensure my students achieve their academic goals. I will provide ongoing support and encouragement to help them build confidence and succeed. This includes a recognition that each student is different, and I am prepared to adapt my teaching methods and strategies to suit their individual learning styles and needs.

I see tutoring as an extremely useful aid to anyone's education; it is an opportunity to be supported and challenged by someone who has the academic knowledge to do so. I adopt a very personalised, intuitive, and tailor-made tutoring programme for my tutees. This means meeting and discussing where you feel confident and some areas to address. This means that I can address the basics of the concepts and build on this to more complex ideas. I find this approach to be successful in aiding students' understanding. The typical length of a lesson would be 1 hour long but this can be changed based on the needs of the student. I have experience as a tutor for a little over a year now, starting while I was in sixth form and continuing through online platforms and charities. My lessons are aimed primarily at GCSE students, but I am willing to take on A-Level Politics and History students.

I know that Ben is a brilliant tutor from personal experience! Ben and I have known each other for over two years and have been together now for almost a year. When we first got to know each other Ben helped me revise for my A Level English and he gave me so much confidence for the exams. Ben is clear and concise with constructive criticism, and I see the amount of effort he puts in to his lesson plans to ensure smooth running sessions. Ben endeavours to provide not only academic support, but to boost his students’ long-lasting self-assurance. He has a natural flair for teaching that was apparent from when i first began to know him, so I have no doubt in his abilities to tutor with success!
I first met Ben when I started university last year, he was easily approachable and a lovely kind person to talk to. I think these skills will help in any tutoring role, giving him the ability to create and nurture helpful personal connections with his clients making sure that they respect him as well as enjoy his sessions.
