About Alex
In 2016, I earned a PhD in history at the University of Western Ontario and was awarded a prestigious two-year SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship at Wilfrid Laurier University and the Laurier Centre for Military Strategic and Disarmament Studies. As a Canadian historian I offer a dynamic teaching portfolio that is reflected by the high quality of my peer-reviewed publications, my success with scholarship applications, my commitment to pedagogical innovation, and my willingness to engage with diverse audiences, stakeholders, and students.

My commitment to academic excellence and student success is demonstrated by my flexible skill set and innovative pedagogy, as well as my ability to relate to a wide variety of learners. My goal as an educator is to engage students in course materials, cultivate their critical thinking and communication skills, and encourage them to embrace intellectual and cultural diversity. I accomplish these goals by providing students with multimodal learning opportunities that address their individual needs and interests. In the past I have used thought-provoking questions or scenarios, technology and audio-visual cues, facilitated classroom discussions, modified content delivery to meet diverse needs, differentiated individual lesson plans and assignments, used active learning strategies, and evaluated student progress with constructive feedback.
