About Maya

I am 18 years old and currently studying at University of the Arts London. I am preparing to study an Undergraduate Degree in Liberal Arts between 2027 and 2030. After this, I plan to complete a PGCE in History and continue on to become a qualified teacher of history at secondary school level.

I received straight As in all my subjects and have always believed in the importance of working hard.

I have always wanted to be a teacher, I enjoy helping others greatly and try to be the tutor I would’ve needed when developing my academic skills at school.
I have volunteered at a local primary school and have a part-time waitressing job for a few years, which has helped my organisational skills to progress and I have become used to professional environments.

About the lesson

As a tutor I make sure to be patient and friendly, I truly enjoy watching my tutees gain confidence and a deeper love of the subject. I think it is vital to adapt to each learner and assess their needs, difficulties, strengths and personal learning language.

A typical length of a lesson would be 1 hour, though I am flexible to do longer or shorter.

I have previously tutored students at GCSE level studying History and Sociology, focusing mostly on essay writing and knowledge. I have also helped Art students at GCSE level that were struggling with the structure of their projects. Having completed my A Levels in all three of these subjects and earning awards for my academic work in both History and Art, I am preparing to tutor students studying at A Level.
