About Amie
I have tutored and taught in both individual and classrooms settings here in the UK and in rural Thailand. Previously, I tutored a GCSE history student individually taking their grade from a C to an A*. I also worked with AS level students during my A levels, as well as teaching first year degree history students as part of an organisation known as PASS. However, I worked with GCSE students as part of a charity known as Intouniversity, working with pupils between the age of 11 and 16 years old. This enabled me to gain knowledge of the secondary curriculum in all subject areas, with a focus on the humanities. This was in an informal classroom setting. Lastly, I recently traveled to rural Thailand to teach English to children between the ages of three and twelve. This experience was fundamentally important in teaching me how to adapt to differing learning styles from aesthetic to visual to kinetics.
In regards to my own academic achievements, I am currently working towards a first class honors degree in History and will then move on to do a masters in International development. This means that I have experience in fields such as politics, philosophy, economics, English Literature and International relations as well as history itself. I would love to direct my interests to places it matters most.

My teaching method is centered around the understanding of individuality which can too often be lost in a classroom. I ask and test pupils on their own learning approach such as active learners or passive learners and ensure I incorporate these approaches into the overall lessons. For instance, when I was teaching in Thailand, phonics was taught actively through shouting out games. While this worked for the more confident pupils, It could leave behind the pupils who need an extra push. Therefore, I split the lessons into two parts; the first active and then the second part I would go around and help pupils write down and spell the words. This was very effective and ensured across the class success rather than only catering to one set of pupils.
