About Sophie
Hello! I'm a friendly and approachable tutor with a genuine passion for History and RE. I'm a former teacher so have lots of experience supporting learners with confidence, recall and exam technique. I tailor my sessions to you, your interests and the way you learn best.
Alongside tutoring, I now work in the museum and heritage sector. This means I'm constantly surrounded by history and love bringing this into my lessons - it's my goal to make history real, not just a list of dates and facts!
Whether it's through discussion, writing activities or working with documents, my aim is to make lessons engaging, relevant and something you actually look forward to.

Professional History & RE Tutor | Qualified Teacher Status & PGDE (University College London) | Teach First Graduate
I am a fully qualified History & RE teacher with a First Class degree in History from the University of Exeter. I gained my teaching qualification and PGDE whilst completing the Teach First Leadership Development Programme. I have extensive classroom experience, having taught in secondary schools across all abilities (KS3-A Level, including students with SEND).
Alongside school teaching, I have over 5 years tutoring experience, working with a wide range of learners to build confidence, improve exam technique and deepen subject understanding. My lessons are engaging, memorable and accessible using a mixture of recall-based activities and games, as well as exam-style practice to build confidence. I am friendly and approachable, encouraging learners to ask questions and challenge themselves. Above all, I am flexible to every learner's needs, adapting my approach to ensure lessons fit their unique learning style.
I offer both in-person and online lessons, typically lasting 1 hour. I can provide tailored support for all GCSE and A Level specifications, general subject improvement, or coursework-specific support.
