I like to give the historical background to a subject, such as the secession crises in 1860-1861, and then concentrate on particular events, such as the secession convention in Charleston in December of 1860. My purpose is to make History fun by engaging students in conversations, bringing history alive, and making comparisons to current events. After a period of discussion, a brief quiz-like discussion ensues, where I expect students to take time to analyze what we have discussed and volunteer to do a brief report on their findings, based on what was interesting, significant, or even boring to them, and tell why. I have taught at the high school level, so my lessons are designed for that age group.

I am a conversationalist! When students have something to say, I love to hear. History has been the drive of my life, in my writing and in my hobbies. My rates may therefore vary, because I like to offer extra resources for prevue, almost as notes ahead of presidential speech so you guys will know what to expect. This is all designed to have fun, and learn some history almost without realizing it's happening.
