About Leila
I'm a 20 year old student at the University of Leeds currently working towards a BA in History. Originally from Bristol, I've always been interested in history and politics, and studied both of them at A Level. I was also involved in youth politics as a teenager in Bristol, and even gave a speech in front of 4000 people about why youth engagement in politics is important when I was 14. I'm super passionate about making education accessible to everyone, as I sometimes struggled at school with the idea that there's this idea that there's a 'one-size fits all' method to education when there's not! Everyone learns differently, and I want to create a safe space in education that allows students to feel comfortable expressing their individual needs to their work.

I believe every student has a unique way of learning and processing information, therefore I create personalised lesson plans for each student following a consultation with both parent and student about what their goals and ideal outcomes may be, whether this is helping to achieve the highest grades, or simply just a bit of extra support alongside their lessons at school. I have two years of tutoring experience (both GCSE and A Level students), which I taught during both my A Levels and Gap Year. I typically offer sessions over Zoom, as I myself am an Undergrad History student at the University of Leeds, so find these online lessons allow me to be more flexible around both of our schedules. However, if you are local to the Leeds area, I am more than happy to facilitate in-person sessions. My sessions last around an hour, but again, I am happy to adjust this to the students' needs as I understand sometimes it is easier to spread learning across more frequent, shorter sessions. My sessions are targeted towards students studying towards GCSE or A Level in either History or Government and Politics.

Leila tutored my son during his A Levels in politics and was wonderfully accommodating, especially given the circumstances with the pandemic. She offered zoom sessions weekly and then offered extra sessions for him when it came closer to his school-set exams. He ended up doing better than anyone expected, and I couldn't recommend Leila enough for her help.
