About Cody
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music and have been teaching guitar for 6 years, working with both kids and adults across all levels. My teaching philosophy is rooted in making the guitar approachable, rewarding, and personal. I adapt each session to fit how a student learns best, from visual to hands-on methods. Beyond teaching, I’ve performed in local bands, recorded original music, and collaborated on songwriting projects. These real-world experiences help me bring practical skills into lessons. Guitar lessons begin with a strong focus on fundamentals, perfect for beginners or those returning after a break. As students grow in skill, we move into topics like barre chords, fingerpicking, and rhythm variation. I introduce improvisation techniques, helping you explore creativity beyond sheet music. Song-based learning continues, focusing on various genres to develop versatility and a broader musical vocabulary. Technical drills are also introduced to strengthen finger agility and coordination.
Advanced sessions focus on developing your personal sound, mastering solos, and understanding music theory as it applies to the fretboard. Whether you're interested in songwriting, jazz improvisation, or preparing for live performance, we build a practice routine that aligns with your goals. Each lesson is paced to challenge and inspire you without pressure.
