About Phillip
I put academic pursuits at a high level and have great respect for all the folks who have contributed to our very large body of knowledge. I think it is important to also bring in this history, while pushing forward on expanding the knowledge base for the student on the topic at hand. I also believe that the student should be able to apply the knowledge to solve problems or create novel inventions; whether they be physical gadgets or creative use of concepts. Therefore I create lesson plans which cover new material and also have examples of direct application of the new material. It is important to get the students engaged in the material, which happens, I think, when they see where the study can lead in terms of general knowledge and also employment opportunities. I believe my central purpose is to show the students new information which will be very useful in their current and future studies, but also to teach the students how to teach themselves new topics, in which they will have interest, in the future.

My teaching method involves emphasizing the meaning of terms and why the terms are used as they are. The technique also leans toward hands-on study and assignments, where the student gains valuable experience via written detailed problem solutions and execution of experiments to substantiate the theoretical side of study.
The lesson plans can be created for students in the range of freshman in high school through undergraduate college level.
During my studies I have always learned material in a way that allows me to teach it to others. In the past I have been successful teaching at the the high school and college level in the areas of Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science. One method I have used well is to hand out notes for the class to the
student with approximately 75% of the information on the sheet, with the students filling in the rest in real time. This allows the student to concentrate on the presentation but also come away with good notes on the presentation.
I think one thing that sets me apart from others is that I make great effort to understand the students' use of language and semantics to understand them on their level to then work to expand their outlook to include the material under study in a natural way.
