About Jay

Jay Nuzum (biography)

After graduating from Evergreen State College with a degree in Film, Jay began working in TV animation for DIC Entertainment.
He wrote, directed and produced the award-winning feature "RESOLUTION" for Alpine Pictures gaining industry accolades, which sold all major foreign territories and played in national and international film festivals. He also directed and produced the features “IN A DARK PLACE”, “FRANKIE”, “SOFIA” and “URBAN TERRORIST”.
He recently published the spiritual memoir “IN THE MADE COSMIC BIG-BANG BOOGIE MOBILE”.
He has written and optioned over (40) feature screenplays, several of them including “BREATHE”, “NIGHT MURMURS”, “GARDEN OF MEPHISTO” and “DOG LAND” have been finalists in the prestigious Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowships for the Academy Awards,, Austin Film Festival, PAGE, Zoetrope, Santa Barbara, and International Screenwriting Awards.
Jay is the executive producer of the TV series, “TOUGH GUY” which follows a former Mafia enforcer in his quest for assimilating himself back into legitimate society.
He has written several screenplays on hire for other producers including “KARMA” a drama about India; “WHALE”, about the L.A. club scene and “8 MILES HIGH” about the 60s among others.
He currently has a number of independent films in development and production including the dark thriller, “SLEEP WAKE DREAM”; and an inspirational film about human trafficking, “SAPIEN”.
His award winning docudrama “A SOLDIER HOME”, recently aired on PBS and won Gold for Best Picture at WorldFest Houston. His new socially-conscious docudrama feature film, TELL ME IF IT HURTS, has also won a number of awards including best picture at international film festivals and his new film SAPIEN is available from Terror Films on Tubi.
He is the owner of commercial production companies Defcon Productions and Illusion MediaWorks and teaches in his spare time.
