Teaching methods vary depending on how students learn best. Students will have the opportunity to participate in educational games and engaging instructional activities to master content while enjoying the process in doing so. Techniques involve both the student and tutor contributing to the student's learning by providing guidance while also allowing room for students to discover knowledge themselves.
A typical lesson plan involves a brief opening activity that allows for the student and tutor to connect and learn about one another for the tutor to best assess the student's learning style. Succeeding this, the tutor will assess what content the student is familiar with and what content will need to be taught and/or reviewed. An engaging instruction activity will follow in which the tutor goes over the basic formulas or knowledge relating to the content as well as examples. The tutor will ask guiding questions during examples to allow room for students to apply their knowledge and understand why answers may be accurate or inaccurate. Lastly, the student will engage in a check for understanding activity in which they are to complete with previous knowledge as well as knowledge gained from the session. A final temperature check will conclude the session in which student express their comfortability with the content and make a personal assessment of their mastery.
The tutor's ability to offer various teaching methods and styles to best address student's needs is a significant differentiating factor among other tutors. By making room for lesson plans to alter from student to student both the tutor and student enjoy an effective and efficient tutoring experience.
The lessons designed by the tutor are for students in K-12 traditional or honors mathematics courses involving algebra I, algebra II, geometry, and pre-calculus.
