About Abrial

I am a professional tutor in elementary and middle school math. I have had several students of all grade levels over the past few years with all sorts of issues. Testing anxiety, comprehension issues, and even students looking for an additional challenge have found their way to me. I love to help these kids learn and grow.

About the lesson

Hi! My name is Abrial, but most people just call me Abby, and my students like to call me Ms. Abby. I am a pretty easy-going tutor that takes a laid back approach to math. Often times, a student struggles with math and feels frustrated at themselves and like it is impossible. I have witnessed the ineffectiveness of callous or aggressive teaching methods, and they don't work for most people.

When I provide my students support in their classes, we work through their notes, their homework, their classwork, revise tests together, and I even provide them with additional work to do between sessions to continue practicing.

When I provide my students with advanced supplementation, I work to prepare them for the next grade level and offer them math that challenges them and makes them think.

Something many of my students remark on is that I make them second guess themselves a lot. I know that sounds bad, but I promise, they mean it in a good way! I make my students second guess every move they make and every step they take in our sessions because it provides them with a rock solid foundation. When they go to take a test, their anxieties are often lessened or non-existent because I have already raised every possible alternative and had them power through it using critical thinking. I build my students confidence. Most times, the ones who "can't do" math aren't the ones who don't get it. They, certainly, are never "dumb." They lack confidence that I can help build with them in these very thorough sessions.

Abrial is AMAZING!! She is my life's savior!! I was really struggling with college and almost quit until I met Abrial. My college experience shifted dramatically for the better! I can ask stupid questions and she will not make me feel a bit bad and just explain it to me so clearly. I feel like I am a priority to her and she makes herself available in her busy schedule for me. She is so smart! Any subject I bring to session she can help me with, she is literally the one-stop shop! She is respectful of the time and makes use of all the time we have got!! I honestly do not know where I would be today without her! My mental sanity has improved because she breaks things down for me, and I can literally go on and on. ( In a way, I am selfish and I don't want anyone to know about the best kept secret in Abrial but... I know I would not want someone to hold back this kind of help for me..)
