About Dan

I am an honours Masters of Science student at Western University of Ontario studying Geology. I graduated with an honours bachelors degree in environmental science along with a minor in business at Carleton University in Ontario. I've been keen on studying all the main 3 sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) along with all the maths. I have a lot of knowledge in the Earth Sciences, Geography, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Statistics and many more university science areas. I was a TA at Western University and Carleton University and I love working with students and kids. I've been tutoring for 6 years now throughout my academic life. Fun fact about me > I've published 11 scientific papers and currently working on my ninth one. Search me up on google scholar :)
I've tutored 12 kids in 1st year physics at Western/Carleton/UOttawa/Concordia so far, 6 in 1st year chemistry, 1 in earth sciences, 4 in grade 10 math, 3 in grade 11 advanced functions and 4 grade 12 math/calculus. I've also exam prepped chem and bio for university level classes. (Updated March, 2025).

About the lesson

When trying to learn something, I usually try mastering the basics first. Understanding the basics is crucial in understanding the main idea of a problem. I take it very slow and practice a lot of questions before I feel comfortable that my student is comfortable with the basics before moving on to more challenging components.

Perfect! Dan is an exceptional teacher. He cares so much for his students and makes himself available whenever possible. You can message him with questions outside your tutoring hours and he will respond with help as soon as possible. I did group sessions with him and another girl for the first couple of weeks then did zoom and in-person 1:1. Both styles of lessons were amazing. He also does a really good job tailoring everything to your learning style (for example for me making rules as I am a rules girl!) Overall he's a great person and an even better teacher

I don't mind calling on the phone or zoom before hand if you have any questions or concerns. Also, I can charge lower rates if we do payment via etransfers or cash (as I don't need to pay the commission fee that way). I currently have room for 4 students (updated March, 2025)
