About Jack
Art History is a subject I am genuinely passionate about, and I aim to share that enthusiasm with every student I teach. Having completed a BA (Hons) in Art History, I understand the challenges students face when analysing artworks, understanding theory, and writing essays. My goal is to make these topics approachable and engaging, while helping students develop a level of subject knowledge, critical thinking, and confidence that sets them apart from their peers.

My teaching approach focuses on providing detailed lectures on specific artists, movements, schools, and periods of Art History. Lessons explore historical context, philosophical ideas, and aesthetic developments, helping students understand not only what artists created, but why they created it. Students are encouraged to undertake additional independent research through recommended reading and supplementary materials.
Sessions are typically delivered in an undergraduate-style lecture format, with follow-up discussions and seminar-style activities where appropriate. I aim to develop critical thinking, visual analysis, and essay-writing skills alongside subject knowledge.
Lessons generally last between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the topic and the student's requirements. Virtual lessons are preferred, as they allow easy access to visual resources and flexible scheduling.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Art History and a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design. I am currently working towards formal teaching qualifications and have experience teaching and mentoring in a variety of settings.
My lessons are particularly suited to students aged 12-19 studying Art History, Art & Design, GCSEs, A Levels, or preparing for university study. However, mature learners and complete beginners are equally welcome. My aim is to make Art History accessible, engaging, and relevant for learners of all backgrounds.
