About James

I'm an experienced and well-respected Television Producer, who has been producing broadcast television programmes for both UK and US networks for the past 10+ years. I've worked on some of the most complex and logistically challenging shows all over the world, from the searing heat of Ghana to the bone-chilling High Arctic. But, we all have to start somewhere, and I, like many, started on the lowest rung as a TV Runner and worked my way up. So, why not gain an insight into the world of television from someone who is actually from the world of television and has been there and done it, learning from a tutor who can offer real world experience to back up the reasonings and examples of TV Production.
I can offer a totally flexible approach with online and remote lessons at your convenience.

My tutoring is best placed for those who already have an idea that they would like to work in the TV industry but unsure on where to start, what particular roles are available and where progression may lead - so ideal for A-level students plus. The lessons can also also be tailored to those who may already be in the industry and looking to expand their knowledge on specific areas (I have a particular expertise in large scale logistics and remote-location filming).

To back up my my real-world experience, I have a 1st Class Honours Degree in TV & Radio Production from The University of Salford.

About the lesson

I can offer tailor made lessons, workshops and courses designed specifically around the individual wants and needs depending on their level of understanding of the TV industry prior.
I can offer workshops that breakdown the TV industry, from where to begin as a Runner to how to work your way up to Exec Producer - and all the routes and paths inbetween, and this would be aimed towards complete novices, those wanting to start out in the industry, potentially wanting to gain some further insight prior to embarking on a Uni course for example.
I can also offer specific subject-based lessons that focus on particular areas of the TV Production, from how to accuratley schedule a shoot day, how to work with a Safety Team, the difference between Location Scouting and Tech Recce's etc. etc.
