- I have a fierce love for the Irish language, I want to teach it as I feel I have knowledge to pass on in order to help students reach their full potential in their Leaving Cert exams

Dia duit! John is ainm dom. Beidh mé go athrú go dtí an Bhéarla anois ach beimid ag úsáid ár Ghaeilge níos mó má suim agat!
I feel I have a journey with our native language that could be relatable to many. I always loved Irish and wanted to be better, but could never quite master it. Eventually, during my pre leaving cert exams noticed half the room visibly struggling to even complete the exam! This spurred me on to really take the language seriously.
When I got my pre results back, I knew I had a mountain to climb. A H8, the worst possible grade! Through focusing on the oral, training my ear to recognise Irish listening and practicing essays, I managed to get that grade up to a H5 standard in the official state exams. This met the entry requirement to do Irish as part of my Arts degree in University College Cork.
