About Chris
Qualifications and experience - L3 TESOL certified teacher. I currently teach at an independent school in China. I have one and a half years of TESOL experience in a range of settings focused on academic writing and IELTS. I have also tutored chemistry and English literature.
I previously worked in admissions support at Cambridge and have helped ESL students gain admissions to top universities including Oxford.
Academic background - I hold a first class degree in Philosophy from Cambridge and am starting a master's in Chinese at Oxford this autumn.
Safety - I hold an enhanced DBS certificate. This is the most in-depth background check for working with children. I have also taken part in safeguarding training with the British Council.
In my spare time I love reading, keeping fit and studying Chinese.

Tuition - IELTS A2+ (advanced beginner and above) and English for academic purposes B2+ (advanced intermediate and above). Strong background teaching Chinese first language students.
Methods - I take a tailored approach to your learning. My focus is on understanding your needs as a student. I offer a free consultation so I can find out what you need.
I will help you by first clearly explaining the content. I will then support you through exercises to develop your skills. Starting with structured drills we'll move to natural conversation and writing.
