About Ruby
I’m Ruby. An illustrator and graphic novelist with an NC in art and design and a PVG (background check in Scotland) with experience working with the youngest of artists all the way up to mentoring peers and providing gentle critique and encouragement. I have an eye for details and will help you flourish wherever you are on your art journey. My tutoring is suitable for children but a parent or guardian must be present while I'm teaching. (feel free to join in with your wee artist's lesson though, as I find this can be a lovely bonding experience for parent and child)

I love to work with individuals on their passions and find what works best for them to help them grow into the Artist they want to be. I can work with a variety of different people of different skill levels and am passionate about good foundational skills. At first I'll take you through a few simple drawing tasks so I can gauge where you're at in your art journey. Then I'll tailor my teaching to meet your needs! I'll supply everything you need for a tutoring session in person but if you plan to attend online you'll need your own supplies. After that first session I'll draw up a lesson plan and share it with you. That way you'll know exactly what you'll be learning. You won't need any expensive equipment. Just bring your sketchbook and some pencils & pens and let's make some magic! For younger artists, a lot of my work focuses on imagination, storytelling and play. I find this is the best way to teach children foundational, art skills that will develop over time as opposed to overwhelming them. Usually we will focus on telling a story through drawing and colours etc.

She answers questions really well and explains them a lot and doesn't make it difficult to ask things about and also is great at walking you through issues in an understandable way.
She's great at explaining things at changing up how to teach them so they're more understandable. She's also super nice and makes you feel comfortable talking to her.
