About Gillian

Hello,

My name is Gillian and I am a graduate of Imperial College London. I specialize in biotechnology and work as a researcher at ESPCI Paris.

After having lived in 5 different countries, I am someone who is open-minded and easy-going. During my studies and travels, I accumulated a lot of teaching experience because I was always committed to helping people in their training and personal development.

English and Cantonese are my native languages but I also speak Mandarin and French fluently. I therefore offer language courses as well as bio / chemistry courses in English to students as science is still dominated by the English language.

As I have several years of experience in tutoring (English, maths, bio, chemistry, physics), coaching and mentoring young people in school (9-18 years old), I am able to help them with homework. I especially like to guide young people towards their further education choices. I have already successfully helped many high school students in their applications to English-speaking universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, UC Berkeley and Yale.

About the lesson

Lessons either take place at home or online depending on the student. I adapt my teaching style for each person because everyone learns differently and there is no single way that works for all.

I give science lessons and homework help to students aged 9-18. In addition, I provide consulting services to high school students in their applications to English-speaking universities. Both children and adults of all ages are welcome to join me for English and Traditional Chinese lessons.

Alicia is a very motivated student who is conscient of what she needs to work on and is willing to work hard to achieve her goals. She is communicative, easy to work with and a pleasure to teach. During our class, we explored how she approaches different GRE question types, it was a joy to have such a proactive student. With determination and grit, I am sure that she will succeed.
