About Richard

I recently graduated with First Class Honours in Aeronautical Engineering from Imperial College London, one of the world’s leading engineering institutions. During my studies I completed several technical internships and now work as an aerospace engineer within one of Europe’s leading defence companies, where I apply advanced mathematical and physical principles to real-world engineering challenges.

These experiences allow me to bring a practical perspective to teaching, helping students see how the mathematical and scientific concepts they learn in school are applied in cutting-edge industries such as aerospace and technology.

I take a professional and reliable approach to tutoring, ensuring lessons are well prepared, structured, and tailored to the individual needs of each student. My goal is to create an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and motivated to develop both their confidence and academic ability.

About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on patient, structured support to ensure students fully understand the key concepts required for success in maths and physics. Rather than simply explaining solutions, I guide students through the reasoning and techniques behind each problem, helping them develop the confidence and independence needed to solve new problems on their own.

Lessons are designed to be interactive and supportive, allowing students to ask questions freely and build a strong understanding of fundamental concepts. I also provide targeted homework between lessons, which reinforces what we cover and helps students practise applying key techniques independently.

Each lesson typically lasts one hour, which I have found to be the ideal balance between focused learning and maintaining engagement.

I have over six years of tutoring experience, teaching maths and physics to students aged 8 to 18, covering levels from KS2 and GCSE through to A-Level. Throughout this time I have helped students strengthen their understanding of difficult topics, improve their exam technique, and build confidence in problem-solving. Resulting in real results with all students obtaining A* to B in their A-levels.

Beyond the lessons themselves, I aim to be more than just a tutor delivering content. I provide ongoing guidance and support, helping students develop strong study habits and independent learning skills. For older students, I am also happy to offer advice on university applications and personal statements, drawing on my own experience studying engineering at Imperial College London.
