About Phillip
My name is Phillip Cloud and am going into my 3rd year studying physics at Imperial College London. I am comfortable teaching mathematics and physics at any pre-university level as well as beginner Spanish, German and Polish from young children to students of any age. I like to teach in a friendly and kind manner but remaining focused on the progress of the student and disciplined learning. As a physics student I am confident in many areas of maths and physics. My teaching style focuses on learning and understanding the underlying concepts and then applying them to questions so as to not be surprised by a problem that hasn't been seen before. I have a focus in quantum mechanics and materials and love teaching topics that may not be covered in a specified curriculum. I am fluent in Polish (native), German (C1 and having lived there) and Spanish (B2) and interested in languages as an aside from my degree. I am particularly adept at learning and teaching languages to be able to understand and converse with natives in a useful way and gain a good grasp of the language in general, which will help to get a higher grade rather than learning solely from a textbook. I am also highly capable in computer use, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Windows and am more than willing to teach computer literacy. I was struggling in my maths module at University as I thought my professor was always going too fast and never explained things in depth. When I turned to Phillip, he managed to help me understand so much (including complex topics like the Fourier transform series) and he also allowed me to be more confident.
Phillip helped me with my GCSE physics and maths learning last year. Phillip explained the harder topics very clearly and even used his sense of humour to make some of the dull parts more interesting. Although I didn’t end up taking my exams due to COVID-19, Phillip’s teaching really left an impression on me as I am now studying physics and maths for my A-levels.
