About Nicolas
I am an experienced private tutor with eight years of tutoring experience and over 100 students taught across a wide range of ages, abilities and educational backgrounds.
I hold an MSc from Imperial College London and a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Mathematics, Statistics and Financial Economics. My academic background gives me a strong foundation across quantitative subjects, while my tutoring experience has taught me how to communicate complex ideas clearly and adapt them to different students.
I have worked both privately and with established tuition providers, including organisations specialising in entrance examinations and international IB tuition. I have also supported students with SEN, children in care and learners whose education has been disrupted by challenging circumstances. This range of experience has made me a patient, adaptable and supportive tutor who understands that every student approaches learning differently.
My main areas are Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Economics, Business and Computer Science from GCSE/iGCSE through to A-Level, alongside Chemistry and Biology at GCSE/iGCSE. I also teach IB Higher Level Maths and Physics, prepare students for 11+ and 13+ entrance examinations, and provide university-level support in Maths, Statistics, Economics, Business and Finance.
Students have achieved improvements of 1–3 grades, including significant exam-season turnarounds. I take tutoring seriously and aim to provide a reliable, professional and encouraging environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing confidence in their own ability.

My approach is student-centred, structured and focused on understanding rather than memorisation. I adapt each lesson to the individual student, starting by identifying gaps in knowledge, confidence and exam technique before setting clear and achievable goals.
A typical lesson combines clear explanations, worked examples, guided practice and increasingly independent exam-style questions. I encourage students to explain their reasoning and ask questions throughout, helping me identify misconceptions while developing their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
I use active recall and spaced repetition regularly, revisiting previous topics through lesson starters, preparation and revision to improve long-term retention. For exam students, I incorporate past-paper analysis, timed questions, model answers, error logs and targeted homework so that students learn not only the content, but how to apply it effectively under exam conditions.
Online lessons are interactive and visual. I use an iPad and digital whiteboard to work through problems in real time, alongside screen sharing and shared resources that students can revisit after lessons.
I have eight years’ tutoring experience and have taught over 100 students, both privately and through established tuition providers. I hold an MSc from Imperial College London and a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Mathematics, Statistics and Financial Economics.
I primarily teach students aged 11–18 across GCSE, iGCSE and A-Level, including Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Economics, Business and Computer Science, with Chemistry and Biology to GCSE/iGCSE. I also support IB Higher Level Maths and Physics, 11+/13+ entrance preparation, and university students in Maths, Statistics, Economics, Business and Finance.
Above all, I aim to make lessons calm and approachable while maintaining clear expectations and measurable progress. The goal is for students to leave lessons understanding not just what to do, but why it works and how to apply it independently.
