About Leosecond
Hi there I'm Leo a recent Theoretical Physics Graduate from Imperial College London with over 10 years of tutoring experience, and I am happy and excited to help!! Having been a tutor, tutoring different age groups from primary schools and 11+ students to GCSE and A-Level I have found great joy in the art of teaching, a profession that allows you to impart knowledge on the future generation and see a diverse background of students succeed. I have found the transition when a student goes from not understanding a hard concept (requiring a teacher’s improvisation in finding different ways to explain it to them), to the moment where it ‘clicks’ in their mind and they can answer such problems with ease to be one of the most rewarding things about teaching.

Why Work with Me?
Free taster session - Book a free 15 minute taster session to discuss what you are looking to get out of tuition sessions with me and I'll break down a suitable approach to help you succeed and achieve your academic goals!
Adaptability - Having tutored a diverse background of students I have become well versed in uncovering students' knowledge gaps and tailoring sessions to suit students' speed and learning style.
Versatility - I cover all exam boards, and have a seamless ability to adjust lesson intensity whether that be for a student who needs to catch up on missed content or helping a student get ahead of their peers.
Exam Technique Expertise – I don't just teach the content, but equip students with proven techniques and strategies that I and previous tutees have used to successfully tackle exam questions; while ensuring students maintain effective time management, maximising marks under exam conditions.
Teaching Experience
Over 10 years of experience from 11+ to A-Level.
A-Level: Maths and Physics
GCSE: Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English Literature, English Language and French
11+: Maths, English, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning
- Experience teaching physics students ranging from years 7-13 at a secondary school for a term during my degree.
- Thousands of hours of in person and online tuition for both one-to-one and small groups.
- Considerable experience teaching GCSE
- Have helped students preparing for 11+ examinations succeed in passing entrance tests for grammar and partially selective schools in London.
- Have created a booklet of 80 unique problems for GCSE Physics students to help them enjoy the subject more and found favourable results when using these questions in a secondary school and in tuition sessions.
Approaching to Tutoring
From the start I like to establish a clear plan that both myself and the tutee can stick to ensuring that together we can achieve academic success. Within this plan we identify any academic obstacles a student might be facing (e.g. knowledge gaps or lack of motivation to study) and begin devising ways to overcome them.
In my lessons I put a strong emphasis on helping students hone their study skills rather than just acquiring more knowledge, making sure that a student knows how to study and revise for exams such that they can transfer these skills to other subjects and areas of life. Moreover, I curate lessons that are interactive and often incorporate student interests (e.g. football or music) into the material to keep students engaged.
When preparing for approaching exams I guide my students through exam material, making sure they can comfortably do past papers and understand both how to do them and mark them such that they maximise retention of exam material when revising. Furthermore, I provide lots of homework designed to reinforce and develop the skills we work on in lesson, varying the amount set based on a student’s speed and capacity to complete work as well as the closeness of their final exams.
