About Grégoire

Hi! I'm Gregoire, an 18-year-old from Kigali about to start Computer Science at Griffith College Dublin. I taught myself Python in my free time because I actually enjoyed it, not because I had to, and that's the same energy I bring to teaching. I studied Java in school alongside Maths and Business, so I understand what it's like sitting in a classroom trying to follow along.

I want to tutor because I remember exactly what it felt like to be stuck on something that seemed obvious once I finally got it, and I love that moment when a concept suddenly makes sense and the code does exactly what you want it to. My lessons are relaxed but focused — I'll break things down clearly, answer every question no matter how basic it feels, and make sure you're building real understanding, not just copying code.

I'm new to formal tutoring, but I've helped classmates plenty of times, and it's something I genuinely look forward to, not a chore. If you're just starting out with coding, I'd love to help you build a solid foundation and maybe even enjoy the process along the way.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring:

My teaching style is built around one core idea: coding truly clicks when you understand why something works, not just how to type it out. I break concepts down into small, plain-language pieces before diving into actual code. We work through examples together step by step, and I'll often ask you to explain concepts back in your own words, since that's usually the moment things really sink in and become memorable.

Lesson structure:

Lessons will typically run 45–60 minutes, depending on the topic and your pace. We will usually begin with a short recap of previous material to reinforce learning, spend most of the session working hands-on through new concepts with real examples, and finish with a small practice task to try independently before our next lesson together.

My background:

I studied computer science, mathematics, and business studies throughout secondary school in Kigali, Rwanda, where I learnt Java as part of the curriculum. Alongside this, I taught myself Python independently through self-directed study and personal coding projects, driven purely by curiosity. I'm heading to Griffith College Dublin this year to study computer science formally, and while I'm new to tutoring professionally, I've helped classmates informally and genuinely enjoy the process of teaching.

Who these lessons are for:

These lessons are best suited for complete beginners through early-intermediate learners — including secondary school students, university students just starting their coding journey, or adults picking up programming as a new skill later in life. If you're already confident with the basics and want to tackle advanced topics, a more experienced tutor might serve you better, but for building a solid foundation, I'm a strong fit.
