About Cameron
Having previously been a prefect at the Royal Grammar School in High Wycombe, I completed my A-levels last year. I am currently having a gap year, before taking up my place to study Environmental Science at the University of York.
Maths (A), Geography (A*), Design Technology (A*), Chemistry (B), EPQ (A*).
GCSEs: 9 grade 9's, 2 grade 8's.
Being a friendly, approachable and conscientious person, I am passionate about helping students to feel confident with maths and also developing techniques for revising both now and in the future.
I have experience in tutoring maths at KS3 and GCSE for students at school. I enjoy helping students to understand difficult concepts and perfect exam technique when working and revising.
Having only recently sat my A-Levels, I am familiar with the pressures of exams, and endeavour to share my techniques for exam success.
I am looking forward to continuing my studies at university and building on my A-level knowledge to find useful solutions to the many environmental challenges we experience.
Outside of work, I enjoy continuing to play the drum kit after achieving grade 8 a year ago.

Before we begin, I will discuss your current progress at school, as well as what you hope to get out of tuition. This will then allow me to plan my lessons so that they are as effective as possible.
Depending on your needs, I can offer help with specific topics, or we can work methodically through the whole course. I will plan sessions to make sure that you are confident to tackle tests and exams.
I believe it is important to understand mathematical concepts rather than just learning how to answer exam questions, as this increases confidence and ability to tackle unfamiliar questions successfully.
My lessons usually involve:
1.) Briefly revisiting material from previous lessons to consolidate knowledge and understanding
2.) Discussing key ideas, concepts and methods of a new topic
3.) Making brief summary notes together (if required), to strengthen understanding and refer to at a later date
4.) Practising questions (specific to the relevant test/exam board) to reinforce learning and identify and correct misconceptions at an early stage
In order to make the lessons enjoyable and engaging, I use a variety of techniques and resources, to tailor to each student's individual learning style.
I always encourage the student to ask questions and challenge their own understanding, so that they can maximise their own revision time outside of lessons.
At the end of the lesson, I suggest questions that the student can attempt in their own time to reinforce the topic, and we discuss what they would like to cover in the next lesson.
