About Allison
Hi! My name is Allison; I also go by Ally! I have a strong academic foundation in mathematics through advanced high school coursework and have experience supporting middle school students through English tutoring and academic guidance. I am passionate about helping students feel confident in their abilities by creating a patient, encouraging, and personalized learning environment. I believe every student can succeed with the right support, and I look forward to helping students develop strong skills, confidence, and a positive attitude toward learning!

My approach as a tutor is centered around patience, encouragement, and adapting lessons to each student's individual learning style. I believe students learn best when they understand the reasoning behind concepts rather than simply memorizing steps, so I focus on breaking down challenging problems into smaller, manageable steps with clear explanations and examples. A typical lesson begins with reviewing previous material, identifying areas for improvement, introducing new concepts, and practicing problems together while encouraging students to explain their thought process. What sets me apart is my supportive and patient approach, developed through my experience tutoring middle school students in English and helping them improve their vocabulary, writing, and grammar skills. As an incoming Economics student at New York University, I have strengthened my analytical and problem-solving abilities, which I hope to share with students. My lessons are designed for elementary students who want to strengthen their math foundations, improve their skills, and build confidence in their abilities.
