About Jiya

I have over four years of tutoring experience and work with students in a way that is consistent and intentional rather than rushed. I have a strong background in reading and writing and am familiar with the kinds of challenges students run into, whether that is unclear comprehension or difficulty organizing their thoughts on paper.

I show up prepared and keep track of what each student is working on so progress is steady and noticeable. I also communicate clearly with both students and parents, so expectations are clear and sessions feel structured without being stressful.

About the lesson

A lot of students can get through a book or finish a paragraph without really knowing what they just said or read. I focus on fixing that gap. During lessons, I ask students to explain ideas in their own words, talk through what a sentence is actually doing, and make small revisions that noticeably improve clarity instead of rewriting everything for them.

With reading, we work on picking up meaning as we go, not just at the end. With writing, I help students get past the "I don't know how to start" stage and turn rough ideas into something organized and readable. Over time, students become more comfortable sharing their thoughts and less dependent on someone else to guide every step.
