About Nathan
I tailor Maths lessons to each student’s strengths and areas for improvement, focusing on building strong problem-solving skills, confidence, and exam technique. I use clear explanations, worked examples, and exam-style questions with step-by-step guidance to develop genuine understanding rather than memorisation. Each lesson includes a recap of key concepts, focused teaching, guided practice, and independent questions with detailed feedback and clear targets for improvement.
I am a St Olave’s Grammar School student with A*A*A predicted in A-Levels (Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science), alongside top GCSE grades ((concealed information)) and UKMT Gold awards. I hold university offers from the University of Warwick, King's College London, and University of Bristol. I teach 11+, GCSE, and A-Level Maths, helping students master challenging topics, improve their mathematical reasoning, and achieve their target grades. Lessons are typically 1 hour and fully adapted to individual needs.

I believe effective Maths tutoring comes from making challenging concepts accessible and helping students develop the confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems independently. I focus on breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable steps while highlighting the connections between different areas of Mathematics, enabling students to apply their knowledge confidently in a variety of exam questions. Alongside building strong mathematical understanding, I place significant emphasis on exam technique, including interpreting questions correctly, selecting efficient methods, showing clear working, and avoiding common mistakes under timed conditions.
My lessons are highly interactive and encourage active problem-solving rather than passive learning. Students are given regular opportunities to ask questions, explain their reasoning, and practise independently using carefully selected questions. I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, learning from them, and steadily improving their mathematical ability, confidence, and exam performance over time.

Nathan is a great tutor, always thorough in his explanations and easy to follow.
Nathan is an exceptional teacher. He started teaching my son Maths over a year ago and I have seen great improvement in his approach to Maths. Nathan is patient and breaks things down in a way that makes it easy for my son to comprehend and excel in his studies
Nathan's a kind, engaging tutor who ensured students reach their full potential and approach learning with confidence.
Nathan has helped our child’s confidence and problem-solving skills improve so much, and his lessons were always engaging and enjoyable. He explains non-verbal reasoning concepts clearly and makes learning feel less stressful and more exciting. We have seen great progress and would highly recommend him to any parent looking for a supportive and effective 11+ tutor.
Nathan is an incredibly understanding and helpful classmate of mine! He is usually one of the first to finish his work and rather than sitting idly he takes it upon himself to help others in a very polite manner. Would definitely recommend him due to his extreme reliability!
Nathan has been my maths tutor for 2 years now and I can’t recommend him enough. I came to him on a grade 3 referred by a family friend, where in the space of 3 months I was then good enough to do higher tier. Now I am sitting my GCSE’s and I am predicted a grade 7, which wouldn’t have been possible without him!
Nathan is an excellent math teacher. He was patient and supportive while teaching my son. He helped my son prepare for GCSE with a lot of attention to detail.
Extremely reliable and good at what he does, incredibly helpful and polite!
Hard working and very vigilant. Easy to talk to and will try different approaches to make sure you understand!
Nathan has been my classmate in Maths for my two years in sixth form, and has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic and understanding of Maths. He is able to grasp and explain difficult concepts with clarity and patience, and has always been an approachable and reliable person to ask when in need of help. He is extremely supportive and encouraging, and will tailor his communication depending on each person. For instance, if I struggle to understand something using one particular method, he is able to explain it from a different angle or perspective that is more suited to my learning style. Overall, Nathan is responsible and organised, and has a genuine passion for Maths, which makes him an ideal tutor whom I’d highly recommend!
He's really amazing and explains situations in ways I can comprehend. I really value him as a teacher.
I’ve known Nathan for a while, and he’s honestly one of the most supportive and dedicated people when it comes to teaching. He explains things in a way that actually makes sense and never makes you feel bad for asking questions. He’s really patient and always makes lessons feel comfortable and motivating.
One thing I appreciate most is how he adapts to different learning styles instead of just teaching one way. I’ve worked with Nathan on difficult topics before, and he always helped break things down step by step until I understood them properly.
I’d definitely recommend Nathan to other students because he’s reliable, encouraging, and genuinely wants people to do well. He creates a positive learning environment that helps build both confidence and understanding.
Nathan is an excellent mathematician and strives to ensure each of his students is heard and is very adaptable to their strengths and weaknesses. He was very helpful in helping my children succeed!
