About Clayton
My name is Clayton and for the past seven years I have been creating music under the artist name "Rella". I began writing and recording hip-hop in 2017 with nothing more than a microphone and a laptop. Since then I have received recording deals from countries all over the world and supported myself solely from Spotify royalties for the last four years. I have been independent since the start, actively managing all aspects of my music from the writing, recording, mixing and mastering to the distribution, publishing and promotion. I have been fortunate enough to create an entirely international audience with 85% of my 350,000 monthly streams originating from the United States and Europe.
In 2021 I was able to leave my job as a road surface inspector and pursue music full time. In just over a year I was able to quadruple my monthly listeners and my income, and received prospective record deals and expressions of interest from companies that include 10K Records, Ditto, ONErpm, Amuse, Duetti, GRXTESQUE, Too Lost, New Tomorrow and beatBread. I turned all of these deals down, choosing to instead continue on the independent path and maintain full ownership of my masters.
Although I am lucky enough to still be in a position where I can live off royalties, I'm excited by the prospect of being able to pass on some of my knowledge to artists who could benefit from it.

I learned two things about the music industry very early on. The first being that to succeed as an artist you must have a solid understanding of all aspects of the music industry and secondly, that you must have very deep pockets to reduce the criticality of mistakes.
I am available to you in both a consultancy and tutoring capacity to help solve both of these issues. By tailoring lessons to you individually, I am able to provide you with the knowledge I have learned over many years, saving you a great deal of money in the long run.
If you are new to vocal production, I can teach you how to create and record your own music through FL Studio with lessons on both song-writing and delivery, as well as mixing and mastering. If you already create music, and feel "stuck" or "lost", then I can help you by providing you with the tools I think you need to develop.
If you already have music but are struggling to get it heard, then I can teach you how to market that music through playlist placements, branding and promotional outlets. I can also help you with your social media content, song release schedules and artist branding. I can also simply help you to maintain your sanity and manage your time in one of the most mentally demanding industries on the planet.
The typical length of a lesson is one hour, and is done over a Zoom or Teams call. I provide these services for anybody at any level of musical experience, all I ask is that I receive some information from you first so that I can tailor the session to best meet your needs.
